Recent changes includes a switch to online for what used to be known as "In Service" with two "On the job" checklists replacing the three previous checklists (Plan, Do and Review).  This applies to Youth Program Leaders (aka Leaders of Youth or LoY) and Program Support Leaders (aka Leader of Adults or LoA).  There are different checklists for Basic depending on LoY vs LoA, they are common for Advanced.  "Basic" is now the Certificate of Proficiency (COP), "Advanced" is now the Certificate of Advanced Adult Leadership (CAAL).

Role descriptions

(For examples below XXX relates to the specific role, eg Cub Leader)

"Trainee Assistant XXX"  = new leader who has yet to complete Basic training (Gilwell Woggle)

"Assistant XXX"  = leader who has completed Basic training (Gilwell Woggle) and is assisting the Leader in charge of a section.  It may include leaders who have completed Advanced (Wood beads) who are not Leader in charge.

"XXX" = leader who has completed Advanced training (Wood beads) and is considered the Leader in charge of a section

"Provisional XXX" = a leader who has transitioned from another section, has completed Advanced training (Wood beads) but has yet to complete their checklists at Advanced level for the new section.  Also used for a leader who is considered to be in charge but has yet to complete Advanced training (Wood beads)

"Provisional Assistant XXX" = a leader who has transitioned from another section, has completed Basic training (Gilwell woggle) but has yet to complete their checklists at Basic level for the new section.

*Note: The above gets confusing when GLs don't actively manage role descriptions, for example they leave the leader in charge as "Assistant".  For some roles such as District Leaders the "Assistant" is rarely used.
